Medina de Pomar is in Las Merindades. What the area is like and what trips start there

Which way it goes

Burgos is one of Spain's largest provinces and its areas are far apart: from the north of Las Merindades to Aranda means crossing the whole province. The most common internal trips are to the capital, for the hospital and the station, and within the Ribera, between Aranda and the wineries; away from the A-1 public transport is thin.

Aeropuerto de Burgos, seen from Burgos

Burgos airport, at Villafría on the east side of the city, has very little commercial traffic. Before booking it is worth confirming the flight leaves from there: from Burgos, flying usually means Barajas or Bilbao.

On arrival: Alfoz de Burgos

The city of Burgos holds the university hospital, Rosa de Lima station, the cathedral and the Museum of Human Evolution, and is where the whole province comes for appointments and paperwork. It also has large industrial estates, with shift changes at hours when there are no buses.

Tip: For a winery route through the Ribera, book the visits first and give the driver the order and time of each one: wineries work to fixed schedules.

Airport pickup

For arrivals, the driver waits in the terminal with a name sign and helps with your luggage. We track the flight number, so a delay costs nothing extra within the terminal’s complimentary waiting time.

What time to leave Medina de Pomar for your flight

Flight time, minus the airline's check-in window (2 hours for European flights, 3 for long-haul), minus this trip's 89 minutes, 10 minutes of traffic margin and 10 for pickup. The exact pickup time is confirmed in writing when you book; we cover early hours always with an advance booking.

What the price includes

• Door-to-door pickup and help with luggage.
• Complimentary waiting and flight or train tracking.
• Child restraint systems if you need them.
• The 10 % Spanish VAT on passenger transport.

Tolls and parking, where the route requires them, are itemised in the quote and charged to the customer, with one exception: for airport destinations, if traffic calls for it, the route along the radial toll motorways is included at no cost provided there are at least 3 hours between pickup and the flight's departure. With less margin, that toll is itemised in the quote like any other. There are no hidden charges: any supplement is shown in the quote before you confirm.
